--Start Rant--

Referring to Straits Times 24/08/2006 Thursday Headlines:

"Rules eased as part of efforts to woo immigrants"

and a sub-headline

"12,900 foreign nationals got citizenship last year"

My rants on the current steps taken to boost population:

If birth is at 30000, we would have hit replacement rate through this method in 2013

By 2020, those born in the 1960's will be 60 years old and majority of the baby boomers were born before Independence. They will start dying by 2030, leaving a huge gap in the population and these foreigners will fill in the gap......

The deaths of these baby boomers will see some great changes in Singapore:

1. The end of dialects (except hokkien swear words)

2. What's truly Singapore will be redefined by foreingers

3. Loss of unique Singapore Chinese Culture

Thus in 20 years time, Singapore will have more than 300k foreigners in Singapore earing your jobs and willing to earn less. How would you feel?

I remember for years 1980 to 2000, the births were dropping non-stop except for the dragon year (50k births), Snake (Can't rmb but I think its a good year also, some 50k too?), Horse (40k), Lamb (40k). The average of the other years is somewhere between 30k.

Local Workers vs Foreigners (if working age is 21)

====================================================

Year Locals coming to work Foreigners coming to work Percentage% F/L

2004 30000 12900 43

2005 30000 13600 45.3

2006 30000 13000 43.3

2007 30000 14000 46.7

2008 30000 15000 50

2009 50000 16000 32

2010 50000 17000 34

2011 40000 18000 45

2012 40000 19000 47.5

2013 30000 20000 66.7

2014 30000 21000 70

2015 30000 22000 73.3

2016 30000 23000 76.7

2017 30000 24000 80

2018 30000 25000 83.3

2019 30000 26000 86.7

2020 30000 27000 90

====================================================

See? By 2020, half our working population is effectively foreigners. We're prone to foreign pressure if such a thing happens. Think Danzig. Why was it invaded easily? Which population does Danzig consist off? What people is Singapore trying to attract?

An ordinary night at Hougang Mall, until ... ...

As my mum and I were walking out of HG to the coffeshop to drink some tea, an Indian woman approached us. (Actually, anyone near her)

Excerpt
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Situation: Near Hougang Mall at the coffeeshop (8:20pm - 8:30pm)
Cast: All passing people
All eating people
Mum
Me
Coffeeshop uncle
Satay uncle
Indian Woman (Better dressed than most bystanders. Carrying some "Classy" handbag and wearing GOLD)

Indian Woman: $2! You got $2?!

Most people around her: ?! WTF expression on their face......
" I'm sorry, but I don't have the money"

We went to drink some tea. After a few miniutes, she returned to solicit from me.

Indian Woman: You got $2?

Mum: Just ignore her......

We stared in silence......

Indian Woman: $1.20 also can!

Me: Why do you need $1.20?

Indian Woman: I'm thirsty and I want to buy a drink.

Me(sianzed): What do you want to drink?

Indian Woman(Shocked): er...100 Plus

Me: Walked over to buy her a drink

Me took out some coins while the took her drink......

Indian Woman: Can give me $0.50 a not?

Me (WTF expression) : I gave you a drink already and you still want $0.50?!

Indian Woman: (Walks away immediately)(note: no thank you was said at all...)

Aftermath
Satay Uncle: You should have ignored her.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe I shouldn't have gave her the drink but I was annoyed by her and I just want to drink my tea in peace so I just felt that I should do something to make her vanish.

Anyway, such a person sure says a lot about Singapore... where's the Courtesy Campaign? What has came out of it? Or perhaps it speaks of something greater?
